| PERMISSION FOR MAKING ADDITIONAL/ALTERATION TO THE EXISTING LIFT |
No additions or alterations other than those required to be made as per the order of the Inspector of Lifts shall be made to the Lift installations except with the previous permission in writing to inspector of lifts. Any additions or alterations which results in changes in the characteristic of lift such as change in speed of lift, capacity of lift, type of drive of lift, number of landings etc. requires the owner to apply for obtaining permission from the Inspector of Lifts.
The Owner of the Lift Installation intending to undertake additions or alterations to the existing Lift shall
- Obtain and enclose the Dismantling approval for the existing lift installation from the respective Deputy Chief Electrical Inspector
- Ensure the lift erection company is manufacturing/uses the lift components as per BIS
- Duly filled in Form “A” in quadruplicate (Download form-A)
- Enclose quadruplicate copies of drawings duly signed by the Applicant and the Authorized Person of Lift Company, showing Layout of lift, Plan, Section elevation, Arrangement of doors, Lift well enclosure, Size and position of the machine relating to the lift well, Position of hoisting machine & Number of floors to be served and total travel height (the proposed additions / alterations should be shown in distinct colours).
- Enclose quadruplicate copies of drawings duly signed by the Applicant and licenced Electrical Contractor, showing
Wiring Scheme for the complete lift installation including earthing scheme showing size of earth leads, method of construction of earth pits/electrode, laying of cables, etc.
- Copy of the building plan / civil plan approved from competent authority.
- Khata certificate from respective competent authority.
- Revenue Tax paid receipt of the building where lift is to be installed.
- Enclose original receipt or challon for Rs. 500/- (The amount shall be remitted at any Govt. Treasury or at any Bank under head of account “0043” or at office cash counter.)
- Forward the completed application with documents to the respective Deputy Chief Electrical Inspector. (To know the Office location Click here)
Permission to erect the lift will be granted by the respective Deputy Chief Electrical Inspector, if the application and enclosures are in order.
The erection Permission granted is valid for one year from the date of grant.
The erection Permission granted can be extended further on receipt of application along with original challon/receipt for Rs. 500/-
The erection of lift shall be done strictly according to the sanctioned drawings as per the provisions of Lifts Act and Rules, 1956.
